Book Release: CLOAKED IN FUR, by T.F. Walsh

Hi Laura, thanks for having me on your blog.

Today I want to chat about the setting of my book.

Cloaked in Fur is set in Romania, more specifically Braşov. Braşov is located within what is the region traditionally known as Transylvania. Most people know of Transylvania as the home of the fictional Dracula. But I’m often surprised by how many people think that Transylvania is a fictional place also. Here are a few facts you may not know:

– Historically and for many years, Transylvania was its own country

– Transylvania means The Land Beyond The Forest

– The Bran Castle, which has long been associated with Dracula, actually has very little to do with Vlad the Impaler (whom many believe Dracula was based on). Vlad was not Transylvanian, but Wallachian.

– In the city of Braşov there’s a statue of the She-Wolf of Rome; a symbol of the Roman Empire

– It is very common for bears to come into the centre of Braşov from the Carpathian woods, even in the middle of the day

– Today Braşov is quite a modern city, and one of the most impressive places in Romania. It’s a hotspot for tourists.

I was born in Romania so I have a special place in my heart for stories based there, particularly those stories set in Transylvania. And that’s exactly why I set Cloaked in Fur in Braşov.

What do you think of when you hear of Transylvania?

I’m such a vamp chick that I automatically thing of them when I hear about Transylvania! What about you?

As a moonwulf, Daciana never expected to fall in love with a human. Hell, she never imagined that she’d abandon her pack, endanger everyone around her, and break the worst rule possible. But she did.

A rogue werewolf is killing Daciana’s friends, and she sets on capturing the creature. She’ll do whatever it takes to stop the beast. The police and her boyfriend, Inspector Connell Lonescu, are starting to question her involvement in the murders, which is endangering the

pack’s secret existence. But when the pack alpha kidnaps Connell, revealing the awful truth about the creature and its connection to the pack, Daciana must choose between saving the man she loves and saving her pack family from certain death.

Can we blame Bram Stoker for the Dracula association?
I did know it was its own country for a long time.

Hi, T.F! It’s great to meet you. I had no idea that Transylvania was once its own country. All the facts you shared were fascinating. Good luck with your blog tour. The book sounds like a winner!

And as Romanian citizen I can guarantee Transylvania has more myths on werewolves than on vamps.

Tania helps promote Romania. Maybe she’ll turn Brasov into what Bram Stoker turned Bran castle and the area.

And I would have never guessed that about Transylvania!

      I bet she can too!
