Well, 2013 is coming to an end. I’m not sure how this happened. Last I looked we were just beginning. But alas, 2014 is upon us and we have no choice but to wave goodbye to the happenings of the past year and look forward to what’s to come.
I hit many personal goals in 2013, a lot having to do with physical challenges: my first obstacle course mud run, followed by another much more challenging one, several other 5K runs, taking up martial arts, and dropping pounds with it all. Family life was up and down, but in the end, we are always a pretty happy, although crazy, family: my son turned 7, I’m pretty sure he defeated all of Sonic The Hedgehog’s enemies, along with all the Mario Bosses, he received his first colored belt in Tae Kwon Do, he’s doing well in school, and he’s carrying on the crazy family tradition. Hubby remained supportive in everything I wanted to do, as he always does, fixed all the things I broke, and he’s carrying on the crazy family tradition.
But 2013 was not so good for me in the writing world. I began the 3rd and possibly last book in the Fate series, got stuck, kicked it to the curb, started a new series, got stuck, kicked it to the curb (although it will be back), started another off-genre novel, got stuck, kicked to the curb (not sure if it’ll be back), and then finally got back on track with Angel Of Fate. The original plan was to get this puppy out to you all in 2013, but sadly, that didn’t happen. I was in a writing funk for so long, I thought I’d never get the juices flowing again. But they’re flowing now, sometimes nothing more than a trickle, but the taps are working.
So, with that all being put behind me with 2013 coming to a close, I’m keeping my 2014 New Year’s Resolutions short and sweet, A.K.A. Doable.
- Get in Insane physical shape – yes, I’ve lost my mind and I’ll be attempting the Insanity workout program. I think I lost some brain cells in 2013 and this is where it’s gotten me. I may be posting blog moans. You’ve been warned.
- Beat my best run times in the mud run challenges and 5K’s – I shall strive to become faster than a speeding… turtle.
And for the big one…
- WRITE EVERY DAMN DAY! – Angel Of Fate will be finished in 2014, and quite possibly the 1st book in the new series I started. No excuses, no procrastination, no drooling over Chris Hemsworth pics… wait, what? Scratch that last part. I don’t have that much willpower. But I will be that writer I know I have been in the past, and will be again. I’ve already accomplished my dream of making readers happy, but I’ve got a new one – keep them happy for years to come. Oh, and quit the day job so I can do it all day long!
So that’s it for me. Goodbye 2013! Bring it, 2014!
Do you have any goals for 2014?
